How to contact the Australian Medical Council, and when to contact Ahpra instead

How to contact the Australian Medical Council, and when to contact Ahpra instead

TL;DR

  • Australian Medical Council contact for candidates: the online contact form at amc.org.au/contact-form. Not the phone.

  • Australian Medical Council contact number: +61 2 6270 9777, reception only, 10 am–4 pm AEST weekdays; it cannot answer IMG assessment questions.

  • Clinical exam team: clinical@amc.org.au. Mailing address: PO Box 4810, Kingston ACT 2604.

  • Registration, English requirements, pathways and supervision are Ahpra / Medical Board questions (1300 419 495), not AMC.

  • MCQ scheduling questions go to Pearson VUE; degree verification delays go to ECFMG and your medical school first.

  • Most candidate questions are answered on AMC Academic, the trusted AMC exam preparation platform for IMGs aspiring to work as doctors in Australia; its guides cover fees, dates, registration and the Clinical exam.

For anything about your application, verification or AMC exams, the AMC asks you to use its online contact form rather than phone; the reception line, +61 2 6270 9777, can’t help with IMG assessment enquiries. And before you send anything, check whether your question is for the AMC at all. Registration, English requirements, supervision and pathways belong to the Medical Board of Australia through Ahpra, and the AMC will simply bounce you there. Here are the channels, the hours, and a table of who handles what.

The AMC-versus-Ahpra split is explained properly in AHPRA vs AMC.

How to write to the AMC and get an answer

  1. Candidate number in the subject line. Every AMC team works by ID.

  2. Name the team: MCQ, Clinical, Portfolio, Verification.

  3. One question per message. Multi-part emails get partial replies.

  4. Attach evidence if you’re asking for something outside the rules: a medical certificate, an incident reference.

  5. Say you’ve read the FAQs. The AMC’s first reply to most questions is a link to them.

What the AMC won’t do by phone or email

Release your results early. They appear at 4:00 pm on the release date. See AMC exam dates, booking and results.

Re-mark MCQ results. Verification was discontinued after review.

Extend a 12-month MCQ authorisation.

Amend a Clinical placement once allocated.

Advise on registration, visas, or your pathway.

Contacting Ahpra and the Medical Board

Ahpra’s customer service line is 1300 419 495 within Australia, with contact forms and state offices on its website. The Medical Board has no separate public line; enquiries go through Ahpra. For pathway and registration questions the Board’s website is usually faster than a call, because the criteria are published in full.

Most of what you’d ask is answered here

A good share of what lands in the AMC’s contact form is answered on this site: AMC exam fees in AMC exam fees in 2026, the calendar in AMC exam dates, the six-step process in How to register for the AMC exam, and the Clinical in the AMC Clinical exam guide. We’re a team of IMGs who went through all of it, and AMC Academic is what we built afterwards: 2,800+ AMC Part 1 questions with every option explained, month-specific mocks with topic feedback, Astra, and the full IELTS Academic course in one subscription from USD 19 a month, with a five-day free trial and a money-back guarantee. Twenty questions are free without an account, if you’d rather judge it than read about it.
